ALEX got going in racing through a stint at The British Racing School in Newmarket before being taken on by Adrian Lee. His spell as an apprentice continued at both Michael Bell’s and James Fanshawe’s and he clocked up several rides, one of which brought him a winner at Musselburgh. A stint in Germany followed but after a season he came back to England to start with James Fanshawe. During his nine years working for James, he looked after the gutsy Arctic Owl, who won an Irish St Leger. Alex teamed up with Peter late in 2003.
